Frequently Asked Questions
Does Promise require a particular faith for admission? No. Promise is an evangelical Christian school. We accept children from all faiths.
Will my child receive biblical instruction? Yes, your child’s education includes explicit Bible instruction from the Old and New Testament.
What is your student/ teacher ratio? 4:1
Does each child have an IEP (Individual Education Plan)? Yes, our staff develops the child’s IEP within the first quarter of school and evaluates the progress throughout the school year (at conferences specifically).
What services do you offer? In addition to your child’s education, they will receive OT, social skills, adaptive art, music, P.E. and group speech and language enrichment.
Are your OT services like Special School District? No, OT is an active integral part of our day. We have a strong team approach that allows your child’s sensory system to run optimally for learning. It does not look like a “push-n-pull out’’ model.
Can we continue with our private therapist? Yes, with approval from the staff, your private therapist may come to the school to work with your child (at the parent’s expense).
Can Promise accommodate special diets? Yes, all of our children bring their own lunches to the school. We have a refrigerator and microwave to help them with food preparation
Does Promise use ABA? Many families find success with their children at an early age using the ABA model. Our desire as a school is to foster interaction between student: student, student: teacher and group dialogue using functional communication.
What are your school hours? 8:50 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Do you provide before care? Staff is present in the building by 8:30 a.m.
Do you provide after care? Parents are responsible to make plans for aftercare services. Any student left after 3:15 p.m will be charged a late fee of $1.00 a minute.
Do the children have to be toilet trained? Yes. We do understand that children are prone to accidents and we will work with the family in this situation.
Do you accept a primary diagnosis of behavioral/emotional disorders? At this time Promise is not equipped to handle these primary diagnoses.
